Thunderbolts advantage

OVERALL defending champions SSTMI Thunderbolts opened up a six-goal advantage over fellow title hopefuls UniKL Young Guns in the race for the Division One title of the MILO-Junior Hockey League yesterday.
The former Bandar Penawar Sports School, renamed to Sekolah Sukan Tunku Mahkota Ismail (SSTMI), beat Tunku Besar Secondary School 6-2 at the Seremban II Hockey Stadium.
And it gave them maximum points from seven matches and UniKL can draw level on points, and also pull ahead on goals if they hammer USM-MSSSPP Juniors next Friday by more than six goals.
SSTMI opened scoring in the third minute through Shahrusahadan Basri. And tin the 26th minute Sufi Ismat made it 2-0.
TBSS made an attempt to claw back into the match in the 28th minute when Faizal Abdul Latif found the mark, but their joy was short-lived as Hafiz Seleman restored their two-goal cushion in the 33rd minute.
And even though TBSS scored their second goal in the 38th through Ikhwan Ishak, it was again a temporary respite, as SSTMI turned up the heat and scored three more off their skipper Shazril Irwan Nazli (50th minute) and Shahril Saabah who converted two penalty corners in the 60th and 70th minutes.
