Wary of Canada and France

Chief coach rates Canada and France as toughest of India's rivals in the qualifying event for the London Olympics.
“In the next four-five days we will complete the analysis of all the participating teams,” said Nobbs on Tuesday.
The Aussie said he was happy with the preparations of the team on its mission to achieve a berth in the Olympics.
“We are focussing on every little detail, every little thing that can cost us,” he said.
“Dilip (Tirkey) is working hard with the defenders and his experience will be very handy. He is working on every aspect of defence,” he added.
Nobbs said he was pleased also with the improvement of the side in penalty corner conversion.
Apart from Canada and France, India will also, understandably, be careful against Poland.
Italy (28) and Singapore (41), the two other teams in the competition, are ranked way below India in the world rankings.
The Indian team has been playing some practice matches against domestic sides and will likely avoid any warm-up game against the nations competing in the Olympic qualifier.

Two-horse race begins..

SSTMI Thunderbolts and UniKL Young Guns will be looking for goals this weekend to consolidate their Milo-Junior Hockey League Division One grip before the big clash on Feb 19.
Thunderbolts, the Overall champions, have a cushion of 26 goals while League champions UniKL have 20 goals at hand.
Both the title aspirants have not dropped a single point after five matches, and will play next weekend to decide the League champions.
Today, UniKL Young Guns meet BJSS Juniors, and next Friday it will be against USM Juniors where they need to pile up the goals before the big clash.
As for Thunderbolts, they play MBI Anderson and Tunku Besar Secondary School -- and both the matches could give them 10 more goals to add to their cushion.
In Division Two, Group A, Sapura only have easy matches against Kedah HA MSNK and Nur Insafi before playing in the semi-finals. The top-two teams in Division Two will then play in the quarter-finals of the Overall title.
“We have scored 37 goals and only let in one in six matches, and we should keep a clean slate and top Group A for the semi-finals.
“After that, we hope to life the Division Two title, and play against the best JHL teams this season for the Overall title,” said Sapura coach I. Vickneswaran.
Sapura, a regulars in Malaysia Hockey League, are fielding a JHL side for the first time and have produced stunning results in Division Two.
However, their true strength will only be known when they play in the Overall title against established JHL sides.
