Singapore make their move

PAHANG whipped SMK Puteri 13-0 to move closer to the semi-finals of the Fifth Raja Noora Ashikin Cup at the National Hockey Stadium in Bukit Jalil yesterday.
The third consecutive win has placed Pahang in a good position to top the table in Group B, which they are expected to seal today when they meet Terengganu.
In Group C, Singapore beat Malacca 1-0 to move to the top of the standings on seven points.
Singapore Skipper O Ming Fen converted a penalty corner in the 50th minute, and now they must beat KL Sukma in their final group match to qualify for the semis scheduled on Friday.
As for Pahang, Nuraini Abdul Rashid was in her element as she scored six out of the 13 goals.
Armed Forces put themsleves back on track for a semis spot from Group B when they beat Terengganu 2-0.
Meanwhile, the International Hockey Federation (FIH) yesterday announced that Asia will be alloted four men's and three women's slots for the 2013 Junior World Cup in India.
The men's Asian Qualifier will be held in Malacca in May, where India will also be playing. And if India qualify for the semi-finals, all four teams will play in the 2013 World Cup.
Malaysia are almost assured of a spot, after their super show in the Sultan of Johor Cup recently.

Group C: Selangor v KL Sukma (9.30am, Picth I), Malacca v Setia Cougar (3pm, Pitch II).
