LEAGUE champions Tengku Mahkota Ismail Sports School (SSTMI) virtually sealed their semi-finals spot when they hammered Kuala Lumpur Sports School 4-0 in fir first leg quarter-finals of the Milo Cup yesterday.
The upset of the day was claimed by Tengku Mahkota Ismail Sports School Juniors who beat Division One runners-up Petaling Jaya City Council 4-3.
UniKL Young Guns were also in a mean mood as they whitewashed Malacca High School 7-0 to make the return leg in Sunday a mere formality.
In the other quarter-finals, Anderson of Ipoh beat Division Two runners-up Kelantan 5-1.
SSTMI coach Wan Roslan Wan Rahman could not have asked for a better show from his charges: "Considering that KLSS completed their Division Two fixtures without losing, we expected to have a tough time against them.
"However, my players took control of the match from the start, and with a four-goal cushion, the return leg would be much easier to play."
The double champions have claimed one silverware, and are heading towards the Milo Cup on a steady note.
"It was a small step towards our goal of retaining the Milo Cup, and hopefully, the players continue this momentum in the semis as well as the final," said Wan Roslan.
SSTMI got their goals off Azril Misron (13), Ahmad Ashraf Alias (33rd), Azwar Abdul Rahman (38th) and Hafiz Seleman (54th).
As for UniKL Young Guns, their seven were scored by Haziq Samsul (second, 67th), Syafiq Zulzairin (30th), Rafizul Ezry (42nd), Norsyafiq Sumantri (50th), Hafifi Elkan (62nd), Syafiq Zulzairin (64th).
As for SSTMI Juniors, Firdaus Musa (17th), Danial Asyraf (40th, 44th), Luqman Nur Hakim (49th) caused the upset, while PJCC narrowed the gap for a shot at the ereturn leg via Hafify Rodzi (30th), Shahiram Zali (65th) and an own goal in the 58th minute.
