SOUTH Korea moved into the semi-finals of the Junior Asia Cup when they beat Iran 5-1 in Group A at the MBM Stadium in Malacca yesterday.
A semi-finals appearance in Malacca is much sought after, because if Junior World Cup hosts India also qualify for the semi-finals from Group B, all four teams will head for New Delhi next year.
Korea's goals were scored by Yang Jihun (sixth, 28th), Kim Jung Hoo (12th), Lee Jung Jun (25th), You Seungju (44th). The Iran goal was socored by Navid Taheirirad (50th).
In Group B India and Pakistan played to a 2-2 draw, handing the advantage to Pakistan who only need to defeat Sri Lanka while India have a tougher match against China today (Monday).
China had the better of Sri Lanka in an earlier match, winning 5-0 with ease.
The Pakistan goals were scored by Muhammad Dibler (fifth) and Muhammad Irfan (39th), while India's scorers were Amit Rohidass (25th) and Akashdeep (61st).
China got their five off Guo Lei (second, 50th), Tu Yuanlin (21st, 59th) and Wang Xiaowei (29th).
