Pakistan finished fifth in the Sultan Johor Cup when they defeated New Zealand 2-0 at the Taman Daya Hockey Stadium in Johor Bahru. It was Pakistan's second win in the tournament having beaten Australia 3-2 the previous day.In the preliminary stage New Zealand had beaten Pakistan 1-0.
The match was played under a steady drizzle but that did not affect both teams as they displayed open hockey.
