Malacca surge ahead

MALACCA City Council edged Ipoh City Council 2-1 to consolidate their lead in Division One of the Malaysia Hockey League (MHL) yesterday.
Malacca were locked in a 1-1 draw until a 70th minute penalty corner gave them a life-line.
Syakir Amir gave Malacca the lead with a ninth minute penalty corner goal, but Ipoh equalised in the 16th minute off Nuriman Samawi. And just as the match was heading for a draw, Malacca earned a penalty corner in the 70th minute, and Norhanafpe Omar delivered on the buzzer.
In another match, Air Force and Dolphins shared the spoils in a 2-2 draw.
Ahmad Ridhwan scored a brace for Air Force in the 51st and 68th minutes off penalty corners, while Zulkifli Abdullah (23rd) and Norfauzelee Ali (39th) scored for Dolphins.
RESULTS -- Air Force 2 Dolphins 2, Malacca City Council 2 Ipoh City Council 1.
